Vehicles

Since 1996, our sister company, Arctic Trucks, has been engineering vehicles that are purpose-built for polar expeditions. Very substantially modified from base models such as the Toyota HiLux and Ford F350, our AT44 4x4 and 6x6 platforms provide unmatched mobility across trackless, ice- and snow-covered terrain. Compared to tracked or belted alternatives, our wheeled vehicles deliver higher speeds, lower fuel consumption, reduced emissions and a far superior level of comfort.

Each vehicle is completely re-engineered at our Iceland headquarters to perform across extreme conditions. Capable of covering long distances at speeds of up to 80 km/h in optimal conditions, these platforms can carry payloads of up to 1.5 tonnes using low-pressure flotation tyres, adjusted gearing and structural modifications to allow very effective operation in extreme and unforgiving conditions. Accommodating up to 5 personnel per vehicle, configurations include combination personnel/load carriers as well as fully-equipped “camper” versions, providing versatile support for a wide range of missions.

Capability

Lightweight, nimble, and with a minimal environmental footprint, our vehicles can reach almost any safe location within operational limits. Cab-controlled tyre pressures and specialised gearing maximise traction across ice, snow, and rock, while electrical outlets and satellite communications support continuous mission operations.

We complement vehicle performance with a full suite of extreme-cold expedition equipment, including modular “camper” cabins, to make long-distance, point-to-point, or mission-specific polar travel both reasonably comfortable and efficient.

Additional mission-specific capabilities and equipment include:

With seamlessly integrated vehicles, equipment and optional enhancements, Arctic Trucks Polar ensures every expedition—scientific, corporate, or private—is executed safely, efficiently, and comfortably in the most challenging polar environments.
