ABOUT
Arctic Trucks commenced the redesign of this vehicle around the body and chassis requirements of taking the special Finnish-built Nokian 44 inch tires which offer traction on rough surfaces, excellent snow flotation and resistance to the extreme cold of the high latitudes. One of the fundamental design guidelines for any AT conversion is to keep the vehicle’s centre of gravity low, often the most challenging - and costly! - part of the overall conversion. Arctic Trucks’ original base vehicle (for dual road/offroad use) was a F150 Lariat SuperCrew 3.5 ecoboost but the same conversion works on most other (4×4) versions of the versatile F150 donor model including the variants used by Arctic Trucks Polar.
The 6×6 version of the Ford F150 AT44 offers more torque, even greater load capacity, extra passenger capacity and wonderful crew/passenger comfort with still-acceptable efficiency which is anyway 5 or more times greater than any belt-driven vehicular equivalent.
A game-changing variant of the AT44 F150 6x6 is the camper version. With a well-equipped motorhome-style camper-back being fitted instead of the normal truck bed, this vehicle offers crews and passengers the best-available level of comfort when travelling on long missions in the deep-field. The camper is often used as an additional level of support in conjunction with cargo versions of ATP’s fleet of AT38 and AT44 vehicles.
