Making water in the often very dry conditions of snow and ice in the high latitudes has, perhaps counter-intuitively, long been a problem. Melting snow is time-consuming and hugely volumetrically (and fuel) inefficient.
Arctic Trucks Polar’s “Water Maker” was developed by Arctic Trucks’ R&D department to save time and considerable added cost in the deep-field. Up to 3 hrs a day can be spent just melting snow in camp. The Arctic Trucks Polar Water Maker gives that time back by melting snow whilst the vehicle is on the go AND can be used as a stand-alone unit in camp. In the past snow has been melted over, for example, white-gas stoves or similar heat sources, however the proprietary unit now quickly and very efficiently produces clean water from snow. Crews also appreciate that part of the design brief was to provide subsidiary and very welcome heating inside a field mess tent.
