At the heart of ATP’s work is the support of scientific research. We provide reliable, high-performance logistics solutions enabling personnel and equipment to operate efficiently in some of the harshest environments on Earth.

Our Operations Include:

Short-Term Project & Mission Support

We facilitate deep-field scientific operations, enabling access to virtually any location in Antarctica, subject to safety, permits and reconnaissance planning. Personnel can live and work at remote sites for variable durations, complete with all mission-critical equipment. Our camp facilities are specifically designed for high-latitude, Antarctic and Arctic conditions. Beyond Antarctica, we provide similar support for expeditions in Greenland, Canada, and other remote regions.

Focused Research Support

We execute targeted, time sensitive, missions such as shallow ice coring, instrument placing/maintenance/recovery, ground-truthing of remote sensing, passive/active seismics and team input/extraction. Our light-duty support ensures research teams can operate effectively and reach challenging locations without unecessary logistical burden and unbounded by the constraints, such as weather and altitude, placed on aircraft.

Cargo Movement

Our vehicles can transport light cargo via cargo beds, trailers or sledges, thus enhancing mission flexibility and payload capacity.

Personnel Transport

We regularly move personnel between stations and research camps as well as providing one-off or multi-sector personnel movements as required.

Seasonal Contracting

Vehicles and experienced operators can be stationed on-site for entire seasons, remaining available for ad hoc assignments and long-term project support.

Skiway Preparation

Our vehicles and teams can be used to prepare and mark skiways for aircraft in the deep field for more effective flight operations.

Camp Mobility

Our expertise in light-duty, highly mobile field operations allows us to support deep-field project camps with tasks such as personnel transport, equipment delivery and secure, comfortable mobile accommodation. All our solutions are designed to maximise operational efficiency and minimise time spent off-task.

Vehicle Leasing

We offer flexible leasing options, whether custom-built vehicles for specialised requirements or standard “AT models.” Lease terms range from two to ten years, with the option to include trained support staff and full-service, light-footprint logistical support. Maintenance options are equally flexible, tailored to the mission and duration.

Personnel Training and Instrument Testing in Iceland

We can conduct pre-expedition or general polar training for personnel and also test scientific equipment on Iceland’s permanent glaciers, some of which are only 2 hours drive from our Headquarters. It is far easier to make in-field pre-deployment adjustments to scientific instrumentation in Iceland than in, for example, Antarctica!

It should be noted that operating in extreme regions of the planet brings both risk and the chance that weather and other variables may make plans subject to alteration, suspension or termination. Insurance against such eventualities is crucial.
