Arctic Trucks sponsored POLAR2018 – Where the Poles come together

02 December 2022

POLAR2018 was a joint event from the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). The conference is a gathering of scientists, policymakers and logistics providers from around the world.

Changes in the polar regions have a great influence on the global climate, sea level change, ecosystems, the livelihood of indigenous peoples, transport routes and resource exploitation - to name only a few. What happens at the poles affects us all. Researchers around the world aim at better understanding the changes in the Polar Regions to enable us to adapt to impacts of our changing climate.

POLAR2018 brought together the world’s leading experts and decision makers working in the Arctic and Antarctic. For the first time since the International Polar Year of 2007-2008, the organisations leading in both Arctic and Antarctic research convened in one place. This provided a great opportunity to gather information about the latest research from Arctic, Antarctic and high latitude regions and to meet scientists from all over the world. About 2000 researchers participated in the conference, which Arctic Trucks sponsored for the first time.

Arctic Trucks have immense experience of producing vehicles (and personnel) to conquer extreme polar conditions, ensuring valuable research and operational activities can continue as efficiently as possible.

Sune Tamm, Director of Operations for Arctic Trucks Polar, a part of the Arctic Trucks Group, attended the event and discussed how Arctic Trucks Polar operate and the services the company provides to support researchers and scientists with their high lastitude projects.

Whether you are a scientist, polar explorer, adventurer or simply have the urge to do something that few or none have done before, Arctic Trucks Polar offer specialised logistics solutions for the harshest environments on earth. Arctic Trucks Polar and their sister company, Arctic Trucks, have developed highly specialised 4x4 and 6×6 vehicles that have excellent load capacity and efficiencies, while retaining great reliability and unsurpassed fuel economy in extreme conditions.
